The second and far more significant reason is that I’m not ready to upgrade my main Mac. Sadly, I never found anything that came close to meeting my needs.įast-forward 14 years and Intuit/Quicken was still a thorn in my side, as I ranted in an August, 2011 column: And trust me, since I had to import 10 or more years of financial data into each program for testing, I’d have been delighted to never open Quicken again. I know…but I tried at least a dozen programs over the years, and I didn’t find a single one that worked for me.

Like Howard Beale, the mad prophet of the airwaves in the movie Network, I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore. And you can bet that I won't shop and apply for mortgage and life insurance online at either. Furthermore, I will never visit their Web site, nor will I take advantage of their "extended personal finance capabilities" at. I won't use MacInTax, even if they don't kill it next year. As soon as I find a replacement, I'm throwing out my copy of Quicken. I don't know about you, but I'm done with Intuit.
Way back in May of 1998, when Apple was at the depths of the death knell era, Intuit abruptly discontinued Quicken for the Macintosh. Intuit, as you probably know, has no love for Mac users. Use Category Summary by Year (or Category Comparison by Year if you want to show current yer versus prior year), title the report Profit & Loss or Income Statement, and you're all set.I love managing my finances on my Mac, but I have never liked depending upon Intuit or its Quicken for Mac products. However, a Category Summary by Year is the functional equivalent of a Profit & Loss statement: All your income by category, all your expenses by category, and a bottom line total. Having clarified that, there is no pre-built report called Profit and Loss. (This might change in the future if they add some investment functionality only available two Premier users, but at this time, there is no difference.) I'd also note that currently, there is also no software difference for Quicken Mac users between Deluxe and Premier, either the only difference there is two services - free Bill Manager payments and priority access to phone support.
(If you just bought it, Quicken Support may be able to downgrade you to Premier and refund part of your purchase price if you've been using it this way for some time, then at your next renewal, reach out to Quicken Support to downgrade to a Premier subscription.) If you're using only Quicken Mac, you're wasting money paying for a Home & Business subscription. If you are also using Quicken Windows Home & Business, then your subscription may make sense. But there is absolutely no difference in the software between a Quicken Premier subscription and a Quicken Home & Business subscription. What you have is apparently a Quicken Home & Business subscription.
First, let me clarify that you don't actually have "Quicken Mac Home & Business", because there is no such software.
